We went through Pierre a few times...on the way back from our Black Hills family vacations. The city is nestled in the middle of huge hills. (or tiny mountains...I was young) I remember eating at a place called "The Stable?". It was very quaint and had a really unique atmosphere. We ordered a wheat crust pizza and to this day, I don't think I've tasted anything quite as good!

If my husband were able to relocate through his company to Pierre, I would seriously think about it. The people were extremely friendly and it was such a close-knit community. I like cities like that, after living in a few huge metropolises!
