I doubt that many people will be offended, when I recommend that everyone avoid Newark, NJ.

I have already written about my experiences, in the crumbling, poisoned industrial wasteland, of Northern NJ. Newark is located squarely in the center of cancer alley.

Newark has the unhappy distinction of being one of the poorest and most crime- and disease-ridden cities, in the U.S. (though not the worst).

I visited Newark, inadvertently, when I took a wrong exit, off the Jersey Turnpike, in the mid-1980s. Though I grew up in Brooklyn, NY (hardly a garden spot), I was frankly terrified. The gang members, hanging out, dealing drugs, on the corners; the garbage piled up; the broken windows and trash-littered properties...Yikes! Get me out of here! It took about 15 minutes, for me to drive through Newark, and finally find an entry ramp, onto a highway...not the highway I wanted, but at least it got me out! <Whew!>

Wikipedia says that Newark had a Renaissance, in the 1990s, so maybe I am being unfair. Also, I have never been to the other crime-ridden cities (I have only visited the tourist parts of D.C., and never to Detroit, etc.).

Of the cities that I have visited, Newark is the worst.
