Community Reps

I am sure that most of you have noticed the community reps with the green usernames around the forum for the past few days. Rather than suddenly appointing a bunch of new moderators, I created this community rep group as a point between member and moderator. I chose people that I think are trustworthy, get along with most members on the forum, and choose to keep out of most fights.

My hope for the group is that they can help keep things in order by encouragement rather than strict enforcement. I would like to see the community rep group thought of more as extra helpful members than some sort of forum police sent to do my dirty work. They will have no moderating ability except being able to temporarily move an entire post out of sight if it gets far out of hand while I am not around. This should prevent many accusations of power tripping that moderators often face in my opinion.

I know that moderators will still be needed to do some things in the future as we continue to grow, and my plan is to choose those moderators out of the community rep group. My thought with doing it this way is that they will hopefully be people that you have interacted with and maybe have some respect for by the time they are moderators, rather than just some random people picked from the member list.

If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to ask. I might not get around to responding until the weekend though.
