Oh, I have seen a few complaints in other places online - so I know that not everybody is so satisfied - but I haven't run into anyone here with a real complaint ... except one fellow down in Newport who moved here from Virginia a couple of years ago - he thought the season-changes weren't drastic enough. And another fellow was barking on the sidewalk down in Depoe Bay a couple of weeks ago - irritated about somebody taking a lunch-break while gas prices are so high - one of those fellows that would've been barking no matter which moon was up ... know whut I mean?
I have a friend who loves to complain about Portland. He moved to Arizona a fews years ago, and then moved back after a year or so. When he got back he would talk about how wonderful Arizona is and how crappy Portland is. And I kept asking him.... If it is SOOOOO great in Arizona, why the heck did you move back to Portland?? He never could give me a straight answer.

I have known many people who complain and some have moved away, but most come back. It seems there are worse places out there.....

The biggest complaint is the weather. Sure it rains here, but we get less rain than many eastcoast and southern states get. Our temps are also more moderate, so you can do stuff year round. You just need to have the proper gear. When it is raining in the valley, it is most likely snowing in the mountains, so rain is a good thing if you are a snow sport enthusiast. Another big plus about the rain is it creates are beautiful forests, rivers, and lakes. Without the rain, Western Oregon would not be green. But, when July comes around, you can basically count on not seeing rain until late September. And the summers are not very humid (20-30%). it is a great place to live!!!
