I'm not sure I agree that it's veiled in bigotry. When a person is in the minority - and unhappy about it - is it bigotry? Even if it is, I see where he's coming from.
Hope this isn't one of those things that's gonna show that we all are bigots whether we wanna be or not ... like the racist experiment.
