Hello, my friend! I've lived in NC all my life and can tell you, yes, sometimes we have tornados. I have never (and I am OLD

) been in an area where one touched down. I think the weather people here are extremely careful about issuing watches and warnings since they totally missed one that touched down a few years ago, so they may go for overkill at times.
I am about in the middle of the state so you are about 3 1/2-4 hours west of me. Most of the time you shouldn't have to worry about hurricanes....though some have come through there, I believe Hugo hit Charlotte and left us high and dry. Weather is so fickle
