When I was in PDX 3 years ago, I saw down at the river these "houses" that looked like they were floating on the water. I've seen houses on stilts sticking out of water (Atlantic Ocean, Fla) but not whole tract-houses in a neat row as if on piers or internal pontoons.

Those are "floating homes". There are also "house boats" that are floating garages for boats.
We had some snags on moving the boat, but after some rewiring work on the boat and some other unexpeced things, we had to postpone the move. Hope to move it soon. The river is really flowing strong, though. Kind of sucks this time of year unless you are going downstream.
