You know, it's actually a little confusing...I've seen Tommy Thompson who might be running for President and then there is also Fred Thompson who seems to be contemplating the long journey, also. Fred is the actor from Law and Order isn't he?
Before his career as an actor, Fred toured the soft and zany underbelly of life by plying his talents at political office - that being the Senate of this fair land. From the state of Tennessee. A well liked one. Popular. 1994-2003.
He started acting in the later '70's.
I figure just by looking at him that he's got a flaw - one carried by many of the current crop of viable candidates and that flaw is - he's just too dang old.
Sorry. I know we need mature - but there's just something about someone in that age-range that seems okay straight off but four and five years into office, they reach that "out of touch" age - ... "dang it, quick-as-a-whip but just one-step off the porch" - age. No longer the brightest pea in the patch.
That's scary. Sort of reminds me of current president.
If we keep working these actors over - remaking them as politicians - I can see a day when every man, woman and child in the US of A will have a guaranteed 15-minutes of fame ... van comes by ... government-seal ... cameras ... broadcast to the 5 billion TV sets ... fame. I've decided I'm waiting for a football player. Quarterback, preferably. Tired of voting for lawyers and actors.
