Odie, I truly believe that you are one of the most creative people I know. I think I would miss my offspring way too much to do that.

I think part of the problem is that there are gadgets for absolutely every facet of life these days. Children aren't as creative as they used to be...there's no need to be...every toy and game they have does everything for them. We used to have so much fun playing in the sandbox and making pretend cities/zoos/theme parks. We read all the time. My parents set aside time to spend with each of us and we would discuss various issues. Television was a privilege and only a couple hours a day was allowed...after our homework was done. We honestly thought gay was synonymous for happy and pot was something a person cooked with. We never DARED disrespect our parents because there would be tough consequences to deal with.

If public schools were as strict and disciplined as our military, I think our children would benefit from it. Maybe that's outlandish, but it really might help. Too many children getting away with murder...sometimes literally.
