I know the thread is a little dated, but I had to throw in my 3 cents worth (inflation)
I worked for a well digger in Western Kansas. What an experience. There's a water table there that is terrific and you can pretty much drill where you want. It is so flat there it's unbeilivable.
We'd go out and the farmer would say, drill here. I'd look and say, "Don't you want it up on the hill?" He'd look at me funny and say, "This is the hill." I couldn't tell. haha
I worked for a father son team. The old man used to hire a witch. The son would just throw a hammer. Son found water every time by just throwing a hammer out there and where ever it fell, he'd drill. Always got water. haha
