We used to base it at Mosquito Creek - but the forestry traded that area and it is now private land. If you take a raft-ride, look for Keith Masterovich (sp?) - he runs one out of Alpine running the Snake. You can also trip down the Hoback - I used to live in there - at Battle Mountain - and once won a bar/restaurant/motel with a separate log cabin on over in Bondurant in a poker game. I took the fool's wife into the back and signed the place over to her with the instructions "never let him hold title to your life again". This was well over 20 years ago - and last time thru, about 8 years ago, the place was abandoned. They also have an interesting taxidermy in the Bondurant store - cross between a lynx and a bobcat. |
Now this is going to sound funny to most folks, but not to a few of us. I have a lift pack. Before I go to bed, I lift myself up about 12 feet in a sling. That's where I sleep. So when I go, I'll just stop where I want and enjoy the night. This time of year, it's all good. Just makes a diff if you zip the sleeping bag all the way up, or just part way.
