Well, I suppose I did either deviate from the point ... or expand it unnecessarily.
Actually, in that very soft mini-rant was a bit of a point - a point Nor'Easterners and Nor'Westerners might understand - and perhaps a person from the Iron Range and that is:
Look, someone ... lots of people ... some of us here ... want to build a fence thinking it will keep people on the other side - when we also know darn well that by very nature, a human-being will look for a way under, over, around or through anything put in it's path - but they want to build this fence - to keep people out of .... What? Desert? More Desert?? They will still fly, walk, drive, be driven, be flown, mailed and even teleported to the "inland" U.S. Most of that country down south toward Mexico way is not exactly easy land to live on - hot, dusty, gritty, topsoil-free, rocky, cactus-spliney, waterless ... and we wanna keep somebody off of that??? I say, move the dumb ol' fences north if you're gonna build 'em - let them have that desert (which, unfortunately, includes Phoenix and San Antone).
In fact, I have a better idea even yet!!! Build a giant Thrift Store just on the other side of the border! Everybody will go there! They won't even bother crossing the border!!! Have it open 24/7! Even those who have already crossed will head back that way! Plenty of parking too!
(George, I'm sorry - but can you grok that? I tried to rein it in a tad)
