[quote=PDXnative;2356]People go offshore. In fact, many boats go between Portland and the Puget Sound area all the time. The Columbia River Bar is known as the "Graveyard of the Pacific" as it is the most dangerous bar crossing in the World."
As luck would have it, I'm watching a travel-channel show on the CRBar right now! How exciting.
My sailing was all small-cat stuff on Michigan lakes but I've spent much time on the Atlantic - on a unit that looked just like the SS Minnow (Gilligan) -even took the wheel in the "Triangle" a couple of times - it was all my fault that we went in circles a bit - kept wanting to watch the horizon. Slept on a sloop down at Oceanside CA a couple times but never went asea on it.
I'll probably have a few more questions after I get up there and in-place.
