If things get too hot, put in a cool-down period. Lock a thread for 24 hours, let everyone take a deep breath, and then if folks are still interested once the passion is gone
reopen it.
Maybe add a rule #7? "Don't post while angry." I know, that ought to fall in as a part of rule 6, but at times it helps to be reminded.
