Moving to Arizona for just a few months...?

I'm moving to Phoenix this summer, I will only be living there for a few months, do I have to get an Arizona drivers license while I'm there or can I use my Michigan drivers license?

If it's only a few months, no.

You can still use your old one but it is a big fine if you don't change it over in ten days.

I moves to Arizona from Oklahoma and I used my license for about 6 months before I actually changes it over and I never had a problem. Although it is VERY easy to have it cahnged over. All you have to do is take it and something like a birth certificate or Social Security Card and they can do it really quick. It also isn;t that expensive to do it like it is in some other states.

No you only have to get a new license if you are living somewhere for a over a year, or 6 months. Some States have diff "laws" on that though. BUt you'll be fine, you're not moving there for good, just for a bit.

Theoretically yes. I assume you will be using a U.S. Postal change of residence card, which will designate you as an AZ resident since you will want your mail forwarded. However, the reality is that most people are not so quick at all to surrendar their current state license, especially knowing you will be returning to your homestate. Now if you were seeking a specific driving job out here that requires an AZ license, that is another story.

When I first moved out to AZ, it took at least 9 months for me to switch over my license, car tags, plates, insurance, etc. I was waiting until everything was up for renewal. There are so many out of state plates out here, no one even bats an eye.

Good luck!

Supposedly, you have 30 days to change your license plate on your car and get a change of address on your drivers license. They do allow students to waive those requirements. The AZ car plate is very expensive and the smog test takes all day waiting in line.
