Arizona Discuss, I'm considering moving to Phoenix. I am very into the outdoors, especially at States forum; camping. How's the camping? I do both tent camping and pop-up trailer camping. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks....

I'm from California and I thought camping in Az was just throwing the tent up in the middle of the desert between the cacti. I was amazed to discover how closely the area in Payson was so much like the Sierras! It's bare bones camping with no amenities, but I absolutely loved watching the afternoon thunderstorms come through in August. Try this link to find what your looking for. I strongly recommend any camp area by Sedona! You won't be disappointed. Watch for rattle snakes tho. Happy camping!

I live in Phoenix. My family loves to camp. There isnt much close forest camping. My family likes to camp out in the desert areas with our four wheelers and stuff. So if you like that kind of camping, all you have to do is drive about an hour and a half to two hours south and there's lots of places. As far as forest, I think the closest I've ever been to is about three hours north of Phoenix.

during the somewhat cooler months the camping is great. Get far away enough from the city lights and you will see stars like you have never seen them before.
