Should I move to Florida or Arizona?

We live in California right now, but it is getting too expensive here. We have to move somewhere cheaper. But safety is very important to me.

I have lived in both- Arizona has a very different feel than FL. It will depend a good bit on your age, too. There's a VERY large older population in Florida, which means the taxes tend to go more to care of older people and less to schooling or young family interests. You would do well to visit both for a while before you decide. Florida is muggy and you don't feel landlocked. Arizona is beautiful and wide-open, and different areas are different from one another. I like both, if I had to move I'd be torn.

Florida has many bad hurricanes and tornadoes, so insurance will most likely be pretty expensive, not to mention the possible danger to your family. But it is a very pretty and fun place to live.

Arizona and much of the Southwest are facing major long-term droughts and water shortages, so it's probably not too wise to move there either, sine you will most likely have water restrictions... Arizona is a really interesting place to live too.

I mean, it really depends on what you really want to do....

Arizona is brutal in the summer. Florida had great beaches on the Gulf Coast and NO STATE TAXES

Having lived in both states; for me it is Arizona hands-down.

My biggest gripe about Fl is the humid summers-------they are at least as unpleasant as ours here in the Low Desert.

****, Phoenix is very humid, I was shocked by that, maybe its the many golf courses you all have there? Way to damn hot, and then you toss humidity on top of that.. 112 degrees at midnight is too damn hot. I would pick Florida.. but AZ has been very pro active on illegal immigration, so thats a plus, and Florida is a safe harbor for anyone who can swim there way to shore... so consider all that. I always seem to see some shooting, or tourist attack in Florida, and AZ has that crazy sheriff thats super tough on criminals. So if Saftey is a concern you may Pick AZ.
