Retirement parks in AZ.

We have a punch of retirees moving to AZ on a daily bases. They have a choice of retirement communities or trailer parks. They all have community pools and club houses where fun is the name of the game. Who said life stops after retirement, in AZ it just begins. These retirement areas are usually surround by golf courses as well.

Re: Retirement parks in AZ.

My folks were snowbirds for many years. My dad lucked out in that an old buddy of his bought a park down in Apache Junction. So that's where my dad took his motorhome every winter. then an acre of land come available right on the East side. So my dad bought the one acre. Together, they developed that into 5 premium spaces. Planted grass, put in a court like street with a park in the middle of the circle. Then my dad split the money 50/50 with the other park owner for him to maintain it while my dad was back in South Dakota. When my dad developed that, he took the first space and put a park model on it. Then his friend would check on it once a week while my folks were away. Worked out really nice.

He traveled down there every winter until he was 90. Then he said he just can't make the trip anymore.

He did. He loved every minute he was down there. Didn't love it enough to brave the summers but heck, he had a beautiful house in the Black Hills of South Dakota to go to.

Here's something funny. My dad grew up in Hand County South Dakota, a little town of Miller. It's only about 1900 people. But down there in Apache Junction, they advertised in all the local papers for a "Hand County Picnic". they had over 300 people show up. Guess there were a few others that liked it down there.

Did you spend any time in South Dakota? If you did please post about it under its state I sure would love to here a little about it. That is one state that I haven't heard much of.
