As you know, I'm totally against drug use. However, this really sounds like a good idea to me. If their going to use, their going to use, we might as well make it as healthy as possible by giving them a clean surrounding and equipment (syringes and such). The savings of HIV people drawing medical for the next 10 years will alone pay for this.

And save money from the EMS trying to respond to all of the overdoses.

There was a politician that was talking about letting drug addicts volunteer to go to prison. While there, they remain in solitary confinement and are given the drug of their choice and it is monitored to prevent overdose. They are not allowed out until they WANT to become clean and seek treatment.

I though this sounded like a great program. I once met a heroin addict who had an $800 a day habit. He did not have a job, so how do you think he got the money? It is also really common for people to have a $200-$300 a day habit. Once again, where does this money come from? They steal EVERYTHING of value!!! They prostitute themselves and spread disease, they lie, they steal, they do whatever it takes to get their next fix. Give them their fix, and they will not rip you and me and everyone else off and they can start to focus on wanting a better life instead of focusing on surviving.

Re: San Francisco to create "Supervised Injection Rooms" for drug addicts

Then comes the problems.

Does the state buy the drugs so that they are regulated and even in potentcy? and if so

Does the state want to support a $800 a day addict?

What happens when a $200 a day addict decide he wants more? Will the state up his dosage?

What stops the $800 a day guy to go out later and get more using his old habbits?

I like the prison idea more. Once they were admitted, they couldn't be upped in dosage, nor could they go out later and do their old tricks. There would be only two ways out, quit or die.

LOL, the addicts that I have known say the same thing about addiction. Quit or die!!! Most hardcore heroin addicts get to a point where they are not getting "high", they use to become "normal".

Supplying the drugs is easy. Instead of destroying all of the TONS of drugs that are found coming into this country illegally, just turn them over for this use. It would probably be better stuff than what people are getting on the streets. Who knows what it has been cut with by the time the users get it.

I say we just inject them with a lethal dose and be done with it. Why should I support someones bad habit. I wont even buy my wife her cigs.
