| I want to move to California, what part should I move to?
So I am 20 years old and will be done with school in 2009. I am going to be a registered nurse (which I know I can make money where I go) but I want to move to California. I am from Baton Rouge, Louisiana (DA SOUTH) lol and I want to go somewhere different. It's quite boring here and I want a change.. any suggestion will be appreciated Thanks |

Move to San Diego. You are only 15 minutes away from the beach, 1 hour from the mountains or desert. Your 2 hours away from Los Angles which will always have something going on. The Great Year round weather!!! And San Diego has great history, great people, and you can live downtown and have the city life or live in the suburbs. Tis GREAT!!

Do you know how big and diverse the state of California is? Please, help us to narrow our suggestions by telling us a little about your likes and dislikes and what you are looking for in your move. Do you want to live in a rural community? A big city? In the mountains? The foothills? The desert? The beach? I live in San Diego, but I recommend that you read up on the Central Coast area, particularly San Luis Obispo. This is a community I visited several times while my son was in college up there, and I really like the area. Not overcrowded. Nice beaches. Nice small communities. But really...tell us some more about yourself and what you are looking for in a place to live.... |

My wife is an RN. If you want to be somewhere different, Australia!!! They are desperate for nurses. Some places are offering $10,000 moving allowance.

My brother is such a card. He and the rest of my family live in Southern Ca. and he loves to rub it in when it is freezing here in Ma and lovely where he is. I was telling him that it has been a brisk 22 during the day and 16 at night. He said it's cooled of there to a brisk 75 and he had to wear a t-shirt under his shirt while walking around Beverly Hills, smart ass.

At one time SoCal was a great place to live. But I do not think it is that way anymore!!!

You don't really realize how ugly L.A. is until you have traveled elsewhere and realize that California is not all that. My favorite part of California have always been the rugged coastline along Highway1 on the way to Big Sir and up to Montery. Probably the prettiest coastline in the country.

Yes you are right about SoCal It is a real cesspool now days. the best thing we did was move out of the place. I can't understand people wanting to move to California When there are so many nice places to move. and a nurse can live most any where they want. | |

I have lived in other places and I don't think it is about a certain "place" it is about people, family, and lifestyle. We plan to retire in Paradise/Magalia, CA...a while back we were looking at Boise, Idaho. Then we decided it might be better for our younger kids to be near family that they can build relationships with in case something happens to hubby and I. We are not spring chickens:) Paradise/Magalia is a pretty area and is a retirement community. We do have family there. Izzy
