Need a detailed plan for moving to Los Angeles?

I live in Michigan (quite a long distance away). What steps should I take to move to Los Angeles? I hear about all people my age (24) moving there after college. Are they rich? It doesn't seem realistic.

Do your research... You don't want to end up in an affordable yet dangerous area. I check with the nearby police about what areas to stay away from. Race can be an issue in certain neighborhoods in LA as with most other areas. I hate that it has to be that way but it is what it is.
