...safety) near UC David Med Center area My wife recently matched in UC Davis internal medicine and we'll be moving to Sacramento in the late spring.

I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods and don't have a good grasp on the areas to avoid as well as the areas to hunt for deals. We want to rent a house or bungalow or even a townhouse (or similar... just not buying a house and not an apt).

What I do know is that we need to be close to UC Davis Med Center, ideally a max 5-10 minute drive.

I've heard various things about "south of Broadway" and further south in Sacramento, but am not sure. We're finding a lot of housing opportunities south of Broadway and north of Fruitridge, just east of the 99, but don't know if this is a desirable area.

In addition to south of Broadway, how about north of the 50? (Is that "East-Sac"?). And north of the 50, west of the 99 is Midtown, right? How's that?

In a nutshell, safe, rentable, and close to the UC Davis medcenter in Sacramento... anything about the neighborhoods, THANKS!
