A Young Man Died Today in Central Ca. A Family Friend.

We expect to die when we get old. We don't expect a young healthy man to die when he goes out for a day of water skiing.

He was in his mid 20's out for a day of water skiing with friends and neighbors. Came back to land and was getting the boat out of water, his group of friends was approached by several folks in another group. A fight started...

One individual of the other group left and came back with a truck. Some how two people ended up dead from being hit by the truck.

Our young family friend was one of them. A nice man. Kicked back, easy going, just like to go fishing, camping, skiing, and hang out with the folks in the neighborhood. Lived at home with his mom.

What a shock.

Izzy

Re: A Young Man Died Today in Central Ca. A Family Friend.

It is this kind of planet; this kind of country; this kind of people.
We look from across the state or across the street or across the room ... and even across the monitors ... and we cannot believe the evils that lurk in the minds and hearts of men and women; what hatred; what willingness to hurt and maim each other.
And then, every now and then, it works it's way right into our lives - and into the lives of our closest family and friends - and we are reminded of just how little control we have over anything.
And sometimes, we look at ourselves - and are reminded of just how much destruction we can wreak in one lifetime ... and the result is usually that it makes us sad - and maybe a little bit ashamed of ourselves - and ashamed for others.
But sadness doesn't have to be the tree we lean on - it's just the way things are .... reminding me of that Dylan line "... this world is ruled by violence".
Sometimes, Izzy - I really do hope that we come back again (altho I really don't think we do) - but it would be nice to come back again after these failings we see in our day-to-day lives ... are solved.
Hang in there. I'd like to know more of the story if and when it comes out.
