Not sure how many people know about this area that live outside the state of California (I'm not even sure how many people know about it that live within the state of CA).
There is an area located in Long Beach, CA called Naples. It is rather unique and was the idea of a man by the name of A.M. Parsons. He had visions of having a little bit of Italy right on the coast of California. The outcome is an area with canals, bridges, beautiful homes, and even gondolas.
It is a wonderful place to take a walk day or night (Christmas time is a favorite). You can also view the canals via a gondola, or rent a kayak, or even an electric boat. There's small pocket parks throughout that are great for picnics, or there's even a few restaurants near by.
