Hi, Just thought I would let you know where I'm from in case you have questions about my area. I've lived in Suisun City, Manteca, Lodi (on the delta), and Valley Springs...all in central CA. The surrounding towns are Stockton, Modesto, Jackson, San Andreas. Catch you later. Izzy |

Well shut my mouth. Been posting with you all this time and didn't know that:) Is Fresburg an actual city or a nickname? The kids are all excited because in March we are headed for Disneyland. Now that is a place I'm an expert on. Been there more times than I can count. The last time about killed me. Keeping up with 3 little ones going in all directions:)

The official name is Fresno, I could think of a plethora of other names for it, but this is the family hour right? You didn't know it, because I don't broadcast it much LOL Sssshhhhh! |

| Re: Valley Springs, CA The last time I went to Disneyland was in the 70's I think. Too rich for my blood and overpriced. However, I do feel that those with kids should give them the experience at least once.

Hey, I was just visiting the city website for Santa Fe, New Mexico. Did you know they have better weather than CA. Low 40's - High 90's average during the year with a few snow storms thrown in. I'm going to check it out. How is the weather where you're at today? Izzy

Yeah, I was checking the New Mexico Real Estate prices on their mls and they are pretty high in Santa Fe. Also, they are at 7,000 ft. Don't know how health that would be for us older folks. Breathing, and exercise. Like I exercise, right, Hah. Izzy

Okay, the hills are green and the cows are sunning themselves. The oak trees are budding up, and the flowers are starting to blossom. I will try and take a few pictures this week. Maybe even get some in the downtown area. Problem is it is spread out along two roads. With Pastures in between. Small town, not even a stop light, just a four way stop. It is in a little valley and I have to get up on the side of a hill, pull of the road, to get a picture of town. But I'm in a picture taking mood. Will do it by the end of the week...just so all you snow bound folks can see spring.:) Hubby's been riding that lawnmower, the grass is growing fast. Izzy

Sounds like you need a big riding mower. We are on a half acre and it takes my hubby about 4 hours to mow it. If he stays on top of it. Once it gets too long then it takes him days:) I want to plant some trees this year and I better get it done before the ground dries out. We're in the hills and it has a lot of clay and rock. Putting up fences takes forever.:) I wonder if the rattle snakes are coming out of hibernation...they do hyerbernate don't they. I've only seen dead ones so far, knock on wood, but I hear there are more by the lake, due to their need for water. Well...I'm headed for the porch swing and baking in the sun.:) Izzy

Part of the problem is the house an buildings sit on 3ac part of a 40 I own. The mower is a 48” on it’s last leg. I have another one I have been restoring a little 4 cyl ford it has a 72” mower. when I get done with it ,it will have a radio umbrella a drink holder an a very quiet muffler. I figure it will take about 2 hrs then .an with the bigger tires I won’t be bounced all over the place. snakes do hibernate like frogs an such. Keep your cowgirl boots on . | |

Folks around here, that have 5 acres or more, use a small tractor with a pulling mower behind it. Don't know the exact term for it. My hubby is a forklift mechanic...but he use to work on golf and turf equipment for the john deer line. He works on ours all the time. The bonus of being married to a mechanic ...I never lift the hood on any power vehicles. He takes care of it all. Also does a lot of electrical work. He will be mowing most of tomorrow, if it doesn't ran. The grass is growing really fast. The flowers (bulbs) are coming up all over the place:) This is the prettiest time of the year here. I will try and get some pics tomorrow. Do you keep live stock on your property to keep the brush down? We have thought about sheep...goats will even eat the tree trucks I hear. We have lots of oak trees. I will have to be careful until he gets the grass short. Can't see any critters in the tall grass, such as snakes:) Izzy

Well the mower I’m restoring is a small tractor with a belly mount mower . the belly mount makes it easer to mow around some of the trees in the yard. I generally only mow the 3 ac the house an poll barns sits on, an some other small spots . the rest of the land I farm irrigated row crops . I got the farming bug from my relatives who mostly are farmers. I enjoy driving anything with a motor an this is my sandbox just bigger than when I was a kid I don’t do it for a living so it makes it more enjoyable. You know what they say the difference between men an boys is the size of there toys. I would go with the sheep as long as you are not on sandy ground . if you are you should section the pastures An move them around as the grass can support . sheep are also tamer for the kids like a nice dog . goats can be mean I hade one attack me when I was a kid . |

We are on red clay dirt and rock. The foothill mountain stuff. We are green until about late June and then we go dry until October. So we would most likely have to hay feed during the drier months. Don't know much about livestock but everyone around us has some kind of animal on their property. So I will ask around. We still have to finish the fencing. It is tough going here...every few inches you hit stones. During the summer the grounds to hard. So we will get some of it done this month and next. We are use to a residental lot...been on this .6 acre for a couple of years. A lot of up keep...don't know how you manage the acreage. Do you have kids old enough to help you? What kinda of crops do you grow in your area? Never been to Minnesota. Izzy

If you half to pound fence posts in the dry try watering with a hose wear the post goes Rocks can be a real bummer . Instead of fencing you could stake a animal an move it around when they eat it off . up keep is not that much of a problem . for fertilizer I get one of them field spreaders from the mill an when I do the field I do the yard . when I spray weeds I got a 16 gal sprayer for my four wheeler 2 to 3 times a year takes of the weeds in yard. When I come home from work I’ll do either the front or back yard an the other the next day. During the summer when it’s hot I mow every 2 weeks or so . With the tractor I have it takes me 3 hrs to work the field before planting an another 3,4 hrs to plant . I have the mill come out an spray, not counting spray 150.00 . cheaper than owning the equipment. The center pivot is automatic I just start it up set the speed an stop it 36 hrs later. this year I have rye in but mostly I grow corn an soybeans .my two kids are old enough to help 20 an 22 but they have there things going on. Besides it’s not work if you like doing it . though mowing lawn can get a little old. The farming is like my big garden. Just different flowers then most . |
