| Help?
I really love Disney, and do want to be near Disney World in Fl. or Disneyland in Ca. when I move (summer '09). Should I attempt California instead of Florida? California has less bugs, less humidity, less tourists (disneyland is more of a locals place), less chance of tornadoes, etc. But the cost of living...do you think with a roomate I could swing a 1br apartment in California? We're talking out of high school with some low-paying job, but I do have a lot of money to back me up (a fund that will be mine to invest at 18), plus I'll be saving for wherever I move for the next 2 years. Should I try it? Invest the money, save up regular money, and go to Cali? Or choose FL for lower costs? |

I would go with Florida out of those 2 choices in your situation. What happened to wanting 4 seasons and a good deal of snow? State ideas? |

I moved to Florida with a friend the summer after high school. We had a pretty good time, but it was also a struggle at times being so young. | |

Cool TS, you were in the same boat I will be in! Can you tell me some things about Florida when you moved? Of course I've been there several times; but as for living there, what suprised you? What was good? and bad? |

KDM something to thiink about, Chelsea had really good points. But in LA, you're only a couple hours from snow and mountains. But costly to live in a safe neighnorhood. you got some thinking to do.

The downside of Cali is that Disneyland is not nearly as expansive or interesting as WDW in Florida, plus there are less in general things to do (note: I'm not trying to debate, it's just my opinion, and I have a friend in So Cali who definetly says there's not much there). WDW area/Florida has not only WDW, but Universal, and Busch in Tampa. So there's a lot to do with just major parks. Then you have to think of the more minor attractions even as "petty" as minigolf (I love minigolf). I'm sorry, but despite the HUGE complaints about Florida on citycaca I do not feel it's gonna be hell. |

kdm, This has been interesting because I've lived in Cali, Tampa, and Orlando. I can't remember what all they had as far as amusements were. I was more camping and fishing. Although I did get to DL, WDW, and to Busch. Roller coasters and stuff didn't interest me so I skipped places like Magic mountain.

Yes, humidity at times was pretty nasty in Florida. As as much as the humidity bothered me, the dryness of LA did also. So thats kind of a toss up there. Tampa is the thunderstorm capital of the nation. there's more thunder storms there then anywhere. Used to get a kick would visit Orlando ask where the ocean is? I don't know why they though Orlando was next to the ocean. |

LOL Wyoming. I know they have a lot of thunder but is it really sudden or can you usually know it's coming (in the forecast & the sky)? Or do they have more random thunderstorms? I really do love Florida and would take a trip there in summer 2008 to make sure I want to move there but then again that would suck up money to be used to move there, so I dunno. I do find the traffic problems overstated. Me and my father were in FL last summer - and btw, the heat felt EXACTLY the same in June as Delaware, I know it lasts longer in FL, but it didn't feel any worse - and we never got stuck in traffic. We drove all around, from hotel to park, without really stopping except for red lights and an OCCASIONAL jam. People love to moan about Orlando traffic but ... I just didn't see much of it, at any time of day. It was no worse than Delaware. |

Well, I'll probably choose Florida. Totally ridiculous again but I heard Disneyland is not as fun to live near due to being less expansive / less to do in the area. It's so dumb to base a move partly on Disney... I know! |
