Valentines Day in california

Okay, anybody got any NEW ideas on how to celebrate Valentine's Day? Anybody doing anything special...or are you running out at the last minute and winging it?

Re: Valentines Day in california

I read that last year an engaged couple in Bakersfield spent Valentin'es Day with his widowed grandmother. Often times we remember those who've lost someone around birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and we tend to forget one of the days targeted for showing love- Valentine's Day.

Yes, Cleo you're right...I better not forget mom. I think I will have the kids bake a cake for her. Also, we are going to make red and pink play dough at home. You cook it and it ends up being kneaded like bread. Lots of fun for the kids.

But my hubby and I are rarely alone...So I think we will get a sitter and go someplace quite. You know it is funny. We went 12 years with no kids in the house. It was quite, we could spend tons of time together, leave for a weekend at a moments notice. I would just like it for a weekend. We have not been away from the kids overnight TOGETHER for 2 1/2 years.

The funny thing is every time I get around to planning it. I feel quilty for going away, and I cancel it.:) We love these kids and I guess we will rest, have peace, and do nothing...when we kick the bucket.:) I wouldn't trade it for the world.

How does that song go...the pitter patter of little feet on Sat. morning...? There ain't nothing like it. They are such a blessing.

Re: Valentines Day in california

See...that is so nice. I have a nefew that remembers my birthday every year. I only see him a couple of times a year...and yet he always calls. I'm going to remember him in my will:) My sons...look at me funny...when I say that. They know I just might do it. And they have forgotten a couple of times:) Which is okay...but they're wondering if I remember that.

Re: Valentines Day in california

Well hubby asked if I wanted to be wined and dined because I would need to arrange a sitter. I said that's okay, money is tight this week, just bring me a box of candy and we will wing it from there.

So many guys feel they have to spend a lot of money to make their gal happy. Maybe some of the gals connect expensive gifts and money with love. Not me. A "You're my valentine, what can I do for you today." Is enough. The fact that he asked and I had options was all I needed. We share our love everyday.

I totally agree...i came into my marriage with alot of bling that i have accumulated over the yrs and have no need for anymore...i am not a sugar eater so i don't need candy and flowers die. We just go out to dinner, which my husband hates...LOL...plus our anniversary is tomorrow, so i don't bother him on V-day..LOL

Re: Valentines Day in california

Yeah, I just don't get doing it one day a year. My hubby does nice things for me all the time. He is the romantic type. So I'm lucky there. I hate to stress him out because...the girl at work...told him he needs to do something special...now he is all worried that he doesn't do enough for me.

He is a great husband and a dad. He works so hard at it. Valentine's day should be renamed "Mens stress day".:)

Re: Valentines Day in california

Stupid corporate holiday!!! I love my wife.... she actually gets mad if I BUY her something.....but then my co-workers and even dental hygenist earlier today give me crap about not buying her something. So, I usually buy her some chocolates or flowers.... or both..... stupid corporate holiday!!!

Re: Valentines Day in california

Why don't you just give her a phone call...give her the option of doing something she would really like...even if it is...stay home in front of the fireplace. Then you could tell the office...I gave her options...how many of you gals, get a choice, options, for valentines? Just a thought. I glad my hubby did it. Instead of buying something I didn't want.

OMG do I hear you there!! I was watching the news and they talked about what was right to give to whom... It's Valentines day.. you buy your sweetie something or make them something or take them somewhere just just spend time together... Maybe your kids... But they were talking about what the appropriate thing to give your extended family and friends and even co-workers. What is this??? Christmas??!!!!
