| moved to colorado from oklahoma, getting divorced, what state do I file in?
We got married in Colorado, ended up in Oklahoma for his job, lived there for 2 years. Left him, want a divorce, there is no contesting, we agree on everything. Can or should I file online? If not, what state do I file in? I have searched the web for an Oklahoma state website for legal forms, and everything I find is wanting money. In colorado they have the forms available for you. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. |

I can only speak of Colorado, not Oklahoma. As you say, in Colorado you can go wherever you go to get the form (courthouse maybe?) and fill that out and back in the day-like Christmas time of 1996- it costed about $98.00 for a divorce. Not like I'm an expert on that or anything. ![]() Good luck with that. |

When I got my divorce I called the courthouse and asked them where I could find the forms on-line. They said, "Just use any divorce decree forms, just make sure there's no state seal on it, because once the court house gets them, they'll put them on the proper forms." That's what the fee is for. Course, if you use the official state form and write legibly, they'll use them as is, but still charge you the fee.

Either way, you know why Divorce is so expensive right? Because it's worth it! Last edited by McGowdog; 04-17-2008 at 05:15 PM. Reason: Oh nice, your links are right down there, up there, somewhere. |
