Smile Thinking about a Colorado move

Hello,
I am thinking of moving to Colorado from the Bay Area. As silly as this sounds I have never been to Colorado so I have no idea what the cost of housing or job openings are there. It just seems to be beautiful there. Can anyone give me any ideas on areas in Colorado? And how the schools are there. Any info would be great.

Cool Re: Thinking about a Colorado move

I think Colorado is nice but you really should make reservations someplace nice and check out all the area's near there. My daughter lives in Greeley and she had lived in Aurora. We went to the wedding and right after we got home the area had a huge snowfall. It was in October and a little strange to have such a big storm so early. The temp. while we were there was around 75 degrees. My daughter loves it there and she grew up in MA. They go skiing and camping all the time. You need to be sure you could handle all the weather conditions. Where she is, there are a lot of hail storms. We vacationed in Florida for many years before we moved thee. Good luck.

First off, do you have any idea of what part of colorado you want to live in? If you live in the Bay area, it is almost guaranteed that you will have cheeper housing than where you are now.

Will you choice of homes depend on work location, or visa versa?

Re: Thinking about a Colorado move

That's a tall order. Might start with Wiki for an overview of Colorado.

Most moving to Colorado for jobs enter the sprawling Denver metro area or Colorado Springs. They must account for 2/3 of the population and 3/4 of the income in the state.

Durango and Ft. Collins are top-rated retirement destinations.

Schools rank above average nationwide according to a comprehensive survey. Be prepared to see a lot of local variation in everything from schools to roads to building codes in Colorado.

CNN/Money found median home prices in metro Denver-Aurora region unchanged in 2006 at $253,200 and Colorado Springs up 5.5% to $224,000.

The Denver job market seems strong.
