I think that they have talked about a forever stamp with almost every price increase, but it never ends up happening.

What the hell are stamps? I email everyone I know, I pay my bills online, I send pictures via e-mail, and if I have to ship anything, I do it via FEDEX, they drive out pick up and ship. I no longer use stamps. =) So the price of them does not bother me one bit.

Oh.. I put people in jail.. see we do have something in common. =)

The Jail here has an e-mail system... If I ever wanted to email an inmate, I could and they would print it out and give it to that inmate. Its not like they dont open your mail and read it.

Re: Postal Rates

Hang onto those old stamps of yours. Stuff 'em in a drawer and forget about 'em. They may be worth something to a collector when you stumble upon them again. And, who knows, your kids or grandkids may find 'em first and ask about them, and anything that leads to a discussion with your kids or grandkids is a Good Thing.

Re: Postal Rates

Do you think the postal service will find a way to make digital stamps to send your email?

Weren't they trying to do that several years ago? The government wanted to charge a fee for each email sent? Whatever happened to that? ...or was it a joke?

Re: Postal Rates

Actually, if there was a government-imposed fee on email transmission (and one that worked, so that it required an identifiable point of origin and blocked all attempts to send an email without paying the fee) I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Spammers would pay off the national debt in, oh, five or ten minutes, I expect.
