I didn't click on the link, but if it's the one regarding brands that are sold at Walmart, Krogers and Safeway stores then it's isn't isolated to the eastern portion of the US. They were distributed throughout Canada, US and Mexico.

Just want to add, up front - this recall affects so many brands - the top end brands like: Iams, Science Diet, Eukenuba (sp?) and lower end, store-brand foods like WalMart's "Special Kitty" and Safeway's "Western Family". Wet and dry. The suggested link at www.menufoods.com lists the brands more explicitly and gives a number to call for more information

Yes, I had stumbled on to the "menulist" of foods and wow what an expansive list. I'm glad that I buy my dog's food where I work. The manufacturers don't mass merchandise like some of the ones mentioned and therefore stand a great chance of catching a problem before it gets too far. As for others, if you've not clicked on the links Wyody has provided, do it! It might just save your dog or cat's life. |

We are beginning to think that this is what happened to our Siamese - two weeks before we moved. Must find symptoms defined. A little late to find out - we passed on the autopsy and opted for cremation - carry our Jo-Jo in a little white box now.

Don't know how old your Azi is - he's either more pure or younger. Jo-Jo started out that way - came from a mixed litter - then grew to the size of a small dog and darkened up some. Cross-eyed, beautiful fella. They're so "one-person" oriented ... and for some reason, even though it's my wife who has animules, he picked me. Softened me right up, that ol' bugger did. Now we still have the female - a grey with white chest that was actually a "junkyard cat", literally. A friend worked in one and the junkyard dog killed her mama. We had her fixed right away and so, with no litter, she's still like a kitten these 5 years later. Explains why my hands and arms and feet are constantly ripped up - she's a wild one.

I didn't want a show cat or care about his papers. I fell in love with him and we were a fit. He is a Seal Point Applehead Siamese. And he is 4. They get darker with as they get older and they get darker with colder weather. In the summer he lightens up. Right now he is really chocolatety. And VERY AGGRESSIVE!!! And VERY VOCAL... he loves to play fetch and bat the mouse against the wall or window. I swear he is gonna break a window one day. Doesn't like it when I hug my son. He will bite me when I do...so my darling child will come up and hug me and not let go and call Azi saying, "She's my mommy!!!." And hang on to me until Azi tries to bite me!! Kids...gotta love 'em!

okay back to poison pet food... Does anyone know anyone who's pet has been affected by it. I heard that an old neighbor in So Ca has lost his cat because of it. It just breaks my heart.

Thanks for reposting the link, Pan. It's getting pretty far back on this thread. What irritates me right now is that, when our Siamese fell ill, he went off the food and the vet had us force-feeding him with an injector. We picked up a can of Iams - which we rarely do but wanted a higher nutritional package ... and we've always used Special Kitty dry as a base and added other, more expensive brands to the mix. Out living feline is picky - turns up her nose at everything but the Siamese was a "healthy" Bubba. Would eat a finger if it was left out too long. While some folks go with the fancy-dancy, I only used that for my search dogs. Cats, I've just tried to feed them well and sporadically, really well. Chose the wrong time to try Iams, I suppose. They say cats need ash in their diet. I got a whole little box of ash now - we had our siamese cremated. RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAATTTTTTSSSSS!

They have now added dry foods too as they found Melamine (sp??) in the foods. They make plastic with it.. And Wyody...that is just soooooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sir Azi loves to get into the fireplace when the ash is cool. I have to hook the screen shut because I sometimes throw paper in there and I never know what the paper is made of. And don't say trees... some paper has a high gloss or plastic residue on it...
