| Christmas Trees: Real vs Fake
Which type of Christmas Tree do you usually put up in your home if any? If real, do you get one precut or do you cut your own? My family would usually cut our own real trees at a tree farm before in MN, but I think I might just get a fake one this year. |

We always had a real tree but 3 yrs ago we decided they were asking waaaaaaay too much so we bought a 200 dollar fake and ppl think it's real...it is gorgeous! I spray it with pine scent....it is sooooo much better because the ornaments don't fall off when the branches start drooping and i have very expensive ornaments.

Ah, the Christmas tree! Well, I have always had a fake one that looked like a real one, have sprayed it with smelly stuff to smell real. No needles on the floor, except when I am taking the darn thing out of its box or putting it away. No watering either! |

We use a real tree we bought at a tree lot;ours was cut not quite a week before we bought it. I think that's the key to using a real tree. Many folks buy them from the big box stores and I have been told those are cut in late October or early November and stored in box cars until they are ready to ship. I have hardly ever had trouble with needles falling off or dry spots.Of course I check the water level almost daily to make sure the tree stays hydrated. You can't beat the fragrance of a real tree IMO. We usually get ours around the second weekend in December and pitch it around New Years, depending on how the trash day falls. Having said all that we are considering an artificial tree next year. We are newly retired and handling the real trees is a struggle plus the cost of the real tree each tree on a fixed income is something we have to take into consideration now. The manufacturers are getting so much better with the artificial trees it is hard to tell the difference just by looking. |

Back in Jersey, we always had so much fun freezing our asses off trying to find just the right tree...but getting it in the house was such a task. and of course having to leave the door open and all the heat going out the door was an added expense....then having to vacuumn up 1000s of needles...breaking my ass to get under the tree to water it every day...when the tree settled, the branches droop and the balls fall off. I'm done with all that...i love my fakie..LOL

It was fun to see all the trees strapped to the tops of cars traveling down Rt. 9 and the parkway. I don't like when the balls fall off though LOL LOL | |

| Yes, ppl tell me i'm funny...should have been a comedian i guess..LOL..Ppl say i am a cross btwn Maude and Lucy...anyway, I think that is probably why glass balls are not that popular anymore..I have alot of blown glass and chrystal so i don't need them breaking.

| I was cleaning the couch with the vacuum and it was an open up couch, so i was trying to get behind it and fell in it and there was no way to get out so i had to wait an hour or so till my husband came home and it just so happens our friends showed up at the same time, so it was a site to see, me with my ass and legs up in the air...of course that was the story for many moons to come, how Pattie got stuck in the couch!!! Then another time i was taking the lint out of my dryer and got my entire arm stuck in it and i had to sit there till my neighbor heard me screaming...they had to call the fire rescue to cut me out...that was EXPENSIVE~!

I saw medium size christmas trees in big pots for about $20 at Publix. That seemed like a cool idea because it could be planted someplace afterward. I personally do not have enough yard to want another tree in it, but I thought maybe about donating it to a school or a park. hmm... still thinking about it. ... as of so far I am thinking it will be my fake tree this year... BTW .. my daughter did get one of the teeny-tiny trees that come decorated for the table. |
