We always manually did it before, but I might buy a timer. I think we had a remote control for the outdoor ones last year. There won't be any outdoor lights this year since I am still in an apartment temporarily.

With all the lights I put up, I love the timers. This year though I didn't do so much because we are moving.

I voted for the timers but we have the plug and pull! The poll asked which I prefer.
I am going to get timers because it's getting to be too much trouble to plug in and then pull out every night at our age.

Most def timers...i used to forget to turn them on or forget to shut them off. So on a timer there's no worry.

We started to use a timer last year for our outside lights. So much better.

My husband has rewired our whole house. (1860's farm house) He put the front porch lights and outside outlets on a separate circuit so we just throw the switch in our electric box on and off and Ta Da! The Christmas lights go on or off. We don't have to go outside in foul weather to do it. No need for timers either.

Wow, that sounds fabulous. Is it a big house? That is Little House on the Prarrie era, 1860s.

Nope.....just an average sized 7 room house. Those who buy a house this old know what I mean when I say that you continually are working on it. We have put on a new roof, new heating system, ripped out walls and redone the electric and put lots of insulation in. It's a labor of love and you sure had best like doing this kind of stuff if you buy an old house. It keeps us busy.....that and always working on the barn also. We just happen to prefer old houses to new ones. They have a lot of character.

Actually we are just the opposite. We wanted a spanking brand new house, something no one was ever in...so we figured it would have cost just as much to buy a fixer upper or a brand new house...so we bought a lot and built one.

Neither I put them on a photo cell. They come on then the sun goes down and shut off when the sun comes up.
