A Wiseman once told me..

We are all from the same root. Growing, living, dieing. We are one, even if some of us don't act like it. Civilizations grow, fade and new ones replace the old.

I watched a show on the history channel the other day, and it showed Pompeii. It was destroyed in a horrific volcano eruption. But even in the last seconds of life, a Soldier is found trying to save people, a slave girl sheltered a baby from the incoming ash and debris. Even then, what we consider now a-days as the barbaric age, people still banded together, still showed their best side in the face of tragedy. It was compared to 911, how we came together, how we grieved, how we helped one another.. the people of that age did the same. Another thing I found interesting was the fact it was multi-cultural.

So as you can see.. we are all from the same tree, one large family.. even if we don't agree. Bound by history, by roots we can not always see.

Just something to think about. Have a good day.

Re: A Wiseman once told me..

I don't consider it "The Barbaric Age". I call it BC..... "Before Computers"

This goes with my whole "We are monkeys" statement. The only difference between man 10,000 years ago and man today is..... technology. We just have better toys and know how to F-up the planet better. But all it takes is a major disaster to take us back to how things were 10,000 or even 100,000 years ago. One thing that has been proven on this planet. EVERYTHING will go extinct..... well, everything but cockroaches......

Re: A Wiseman once told me..

One root. One day. One light at the end of the tunnel. One match. One path. One road.

Six billion different feet.
Only about 30 sizes of shoes in production.
Some of us try to wear somebody else's shoes.
Some of us try to fill somebody else's shoes.
Some of us try to walk a mile in somebody else's shoes.
Some of us leave big shoes to fill, ourselves.
Some of us are getting by on a shoestring.
That's a lot of extra shoes - and a probable shortage of laces.
Thank Goodness somebody is talking about the 'Root'
and how we're all on the same walk -
some of us sheltering ourselves in our plod against the wind,
some of us John Wayne-ing along with bugs smashed on our teeth
- on the same walk
with only a few shoe-sizes to go around.
Pan ... Thanks Man ... you helped level my ground today.

Re: A Wiseman once told me..

Pan; I got that "Zen" thang from a fridge magnet I picked up somewhere in America - I remember it was a cool place but I no longer remember where so ... it ain't mine ... 'cept for that "public-domain" handle. Will mention that the Pipe is actually called a "Cha-NU-Pa" ... which is spelled "Canunpa". It's true that it was often the pipe referred to as a "Peace Pipe" - but it had many more uses - none of which were designed to pervert the senses but more to soothe and transport the senses ... including those "inner senses" that I know you know about.
White Sage, Red Willow, a little brown cedar, tobacco if you want - or an herbal substitute you can now buy from your local brain-food shop. Other things as well usually ... local varieties of "kinikinik".
So, methinks PDX needs to catch up, for once.

PD, one of the things I like about the 'net is that you often get to observe the patients over sustained passages of time. It's more like taking part in a story and helping to write the book.
Which is something we've been doing throughout time -
but it only started showing up good with the advent of forums such as this one - a visible track - a visible footprint - evidence. Evidence??

" I had a dream. That one day, in the same manner as they currently send a jolt through the cable to disable a TV set that's hooked into the cable lines via piracy ... they will, one day, be able to send a message into your brain by flashing a doodly-whomper on the screen thus triggering a total correction of all that's wrong within your/my body and brain ... Cyber-Freaking-Magic!!!'. I had a dream!'
