Carlito quote...It's kinda like when someone says "don't think about a pink elephant with a black trunk". What does everybody think about? The more people bring this subject up, and the more you guys try to ignore it, the worse it will get. end quote... I agree with carlito, I like both sites and wish all the bashing back and forth would go away. I would rather talk about moving to another state and what I have in common with the folks there. The bashing is getting old on both sides. Why does it have to be either/or why can't we just enjoy both sites for there unique qualities? It sounds an awful lot like a turf war. But there is plenty of room on the internet for all city/state forms...don't you think? I will enjoy both sites and if that causes me to be banned from one or the other. Then so be it. Life goes on... Izzy |

Yes, I can where being ousted from a place where you have lots of forum buddies would not make you happy. I've lost track...were you ousted?:) Well there are lots of folks here to chat with:) It is growing quickly. Anyway I planned to spend time here and there and look forward to the chats with everyone. But, yeah the c-d bashing, while fun for a while... I'm starting to feeling like a "traitor" because I'm still posting there, sometimes. (I know I've done some bashing, too, but still). All I can say is a lot of people are here because they're frustrated with city-data. There's gonna be some bashing going on. Hmm... How to let people vent about their frustration without irritating those who don't want to get involved in this "war"? Maybe we DO need a forum just for complaining about city-data? Maybe things will cool down after a while over here when c-d bashing starts to get old. Maybe admin will give guidance? | |

Yes, suggestions for venting and moving on...great idea. I like posting in both spots but feel like I'm being pulled in two different directions...I hope cleozmom pops back up on one or the other site. There are still some great people over on city-data. Folks who are not involved with the stuff going on. Hope they visit both sites. I think it is great to have more than one place to visit. I do feel a since of kicking back and not worrying about if I've broken a rule. But that aside, I like the chats there too. Catch you later folks, Izzy |

That's great. I suggest to markablue the other day in an email that she might want to address what is going on in a forum. She declined the idea. Glad to hear admin. here is willing to brainstorm on discussions and let folks be heard and vent. Thanks. Izzy |

Isabel, It does not take a long time here to see that my opinion of C-D is less than stallar. The anger that you hear is based on seeing friends banned for doing what Americans do. We talk, we argue, then we sit down for a nice cup of tea and have a good time. Learning that City-d is a polish site, and that Markablue and Yac are handling their jobs like the secret police, as american's we fundementally don't like to have private messages read. We don't like to be scolded because we are not playing like they want us to play. When I was banned from city-d I had not violated one rule. I had 449 posts and 187 rep points. I was very willing to continue to do both sites, and because the admin of that site told me personally that he did not care what happened at this half dead site, I made a post in talkstates about what happened with my conversation. I was banned in 12 hours. When I first arrived here there were only a few posts in the state area. If you read my non I-hate-city-data posts you will see that I am pushing hard to get more posts in the states. We now have all 50 states covered and are posting over 200 posts per day. In other words we now stand on our own and really don't need anymore folks for city-data. We do want to invite people here who are showing a lot of frustration, but they do not know where to go, but city-data is going to extremes to prevent that from happening. So, I think things will calm down, but a lot of us need to just get it out of our system.

I completely understand. Vent away:) By the way I like your cat. I haven't had a chance to post Izzy (my dog a pom.) But will do it when I through with my deadline. I'm a graphic artist and should be working right now. I own my business. No one here to crack the whip but my hubby. Well better go get some work done. Catch you later and I do enjoy the passion in the venting. Don't forget the tea:) Izzy |

That got me far. I can tell you that talkstates feels like home in a way that city-d never did. Admin here is responsive and already has made changed, like the pictures (avitars). I can't tell you how many times I saw that request over at city-d. Live feed and being able to see who is on line and where they are, well that is just cool. Ok duff. stop preaching.

Good morning dufferz, Your cat was named Izzy? Small world. Sorry you lost her. They do fill a space in our lives don't they? I also have five kids, 3 still at home. My littlest one...says Izzy is her dog. She just won't leave her alone. Izzy is so good about it. Yes, there is "an at home" feel here. I just hope folks don't take advantage of that and go over the top. Know what I mean...forget their manners and get abusive. Hopefully everyone will respect each other. So far it is looking like a nice place to sit and have a cup of tea, herbal tea...I'm LDS.:) Well I'm going to stop in at c-d. Well got to feed the kids and go back to work. Izzy |

Yes, five kids are a lot of work.:) But two of them are grown and married. Still they have their problems and I worry about them while I chase the other three. Mind you I'm 52 years old. My youngest is 3 years old. We adopted a sib. group of 3 a couple of years ago. My oldest child will be 35 soon. I tell you...I don't have much time to myself. That is why the forum is so great. If I talk on the phone the kids have to go bonkers:) Just seems to be an unwriten law...But if I'm on my laptop they don't know that I'm talking to other adults. So they continue on with what they're doing.:) They have me trained well. On another subject. Markablue at city-data. We went back and forth in a couple of emails this morning. She shared with me some post that never reached the forum. They were AWFUL. The foul languge and the ugly street talk...it was terrible. She only showed me the ones directed at her personally. Who ever wrote them...don't want anything to do with them. I posted over there that I'm done with the city-data banning issues. I feel that if the owner wants to ban folks that is their right. They own the sight. If they want to check the PM's well...my old job, American co., use to read the employee emails. I just remembered that when I was there and followed the rules. As far as being an American vs. Poland based site. The internet is international and there is every nationally in the world living in America. So it would be un-American to black list a site just because it is run on an international level. Well I'm done with the banned topic and not going to discuss it anymore. I like both sites and will continue to visit both. I'm just a Mom, wife, artist, lds, and an American...what do I know.:) Take it for what it is worth or don't. Catch you folks later. Izzy |

Lots of very good, useful forums have stupid or vindictive leaders. I was only banned at one, but occasionally go back under another name to glean information ..... my attitude is more to work around the administrators and mods, don't contact them unless absolutely necessary, avoid interactions. And always have an alternative site to go to that's about the same sort of place. I go to cs and here, but do tend to prefer here simply because I don't feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Over there I've actually had some of my posts edited without my permission, and that's certainly annoying. On the other hand they're a lot bigger, and I'm on this kind of site more for information exchange than for relationships, even if it is nice to get along well with a few people. |

Hi folks, I am one who has bashed c-d....unfortunately, I can't do any bashing or complaining over there. I may not be officially "banned" but they have chosen to prevent me from getting anywhere over there other than the NC forum, but can't post, can't send PM's, can't access any of the other forums. A few days ago I did get into one forum and could see the threads but couldn't access any....go figure. The next day I couldn't do that! I wanted to PM "the blue one" but unfortunately couldn't do that. I think someone here posted her email address so I may go that route. She PM'd me once when I questioned why some members had been banned, said that if I was not satisfied with the way things were done, too bad. Then she added that she had planned to suggest that I be a moderator!!! Now if you really believe that, I have this swampland that I'm selling and the price is cheap! |

As you look at this site, other than the grumblings about C-D, I think you will find the posters here are not the type of people who are out of control. If they were, I would be the first to be outa here! You can do a search at C-D for posts, and do an advanced search by member. You should be able to enter "the dufferz" and read my posts both for the state of washington and other posts in politics and even the final posts in the about the forum forum. You will find that my contributions there (all 449 of them) were rock solid both in presentation and depth of information (Even to those who did not agree with my political point of view) Much the same can be said for all here who posted and were banned. Hardly the type of people who would be out of control. So, hope you time here is wonderful and soon people will be asking tons of questions about your state.

Thanks Dufferz. I will be looking at Idaho and CA a lot. I'm in CA wanting to move to Idaho in the next couple of years. Will help to answer questions the best I can. Still have not seen Cleozmom on either site:( Catch you later. Izzy |
