It's working!

Notice all the critters wandering about? No, not the avitars, but the spiders?

Yeah, those are the critters that are putting us on the map. I have been watching to see what effect these spiders have, and today I am seeing the first signs that we are out there.

google or yahoo

search for rodfarlee, in the top 5 for a talkstate link. The dufferz, the same, MyAzi the same.

This means that the posts about the states are getting picked up also. We need to keep up the posts and add more threads, especially in the states forums. Once we are all over the search engines others will find us.

Build it, and they will come.

PS. Washington now has 20 threads. We smoke!

I am sitting here rolling and laughing hysterically!!! I see a post from Duff.. a fellow Washingtonian... and I read:

"""Notice all the critters wandering about? No, not the avitars, but the spiders?

Yeah, those are the critters that are putting us on the map. I have been watching to see what effect these spiders have, and today I am seeing the first signs that we are out there."""

And I am thinking to myself..WHAT SPIDERS??? I haven't seen spiders yet this year. What the heck is he talking about?

And this thought from someone who not only designs sites but does Search Engine Optimazation!!! Then I read Google Yahoo and realized what you were talking about... My Lord do I need a vacation!!!

Yahoo has really been spidering the site a lot in the past 3 days. They have had multiple spiders on us at all times.

Does yahoo have more spiders than Google? I'm a google adict for searches, but dang, yahoo is here all the freaking tiime!

What has not shown up is a couple of posts that mention markablue moderator. Is it possible to get things like that blocked if C-D was aware of my original "master plan"?

Re: It's working!

I use dogpile.com as my search engine. It compiles all the other seach engines and gives the info from each one. I've been seeing city-data but not talkstate. Was just coming here to post about it when I saw this thread. Don't know how we can get it to show talkstate...but may be MyAzi would know.

Are you ok with a rapid increase in bandwidth? You might have to shell out more money or increase advertising.

CA forum info. Valley Springs

Idaho forum Bosie

The first page had citydata posted several times. I don't go past the first page. No talkstated:( It searches Google, Yahoo, msn, ask

Yahoo sends them out in higher numbers, but Google spiders do more pages each. Google spidered more pages today with 1 or 2 spiders online than Yahoo did with around 5-10.

Nothing like that would be blocked. Bloggers made our presidents webpage the top result for "failure" and Tony Blairs webpage the top result for "liar" with a plan similar to yours, but with many more websites involved.

We already come up in dogpile, just not realy high. We are still moving up the rankings. We are too new and small to be on the first page for most keywords, but we will get there.

I have lots of bandwidth to spare right now. I got us plenty of server and bandwidth to handle a very big increase in visitors still.

17.
SetTalkState (script event) - modwiki
In your script type... void setTalkState( "float" "talkState"). Parameters. none. Examples. none. Notes. This script event does not return any values. ...
www.modwiki.net/wiki/SetTalkState_(script_event)

What does all that mean. It came up 17 when I typed in talkstate

"PDXnative" comes in #4 on Google.

Need good key words like xxx, porn... just kidding. Actually "sailing" seems to be a hot word for websites. Bumps you up quickly. So, post sailing pictures for each of your states and use the word sail, sailing, and state name and we will get moved up faster.

Odds are that is because they're in the "off topic" section, which only members can access. I don't think the spiders have permission to access those pages, as they're not talkstates members.

Actually I intentionally did it in the states forum.

Can anyone find the references?

People who are banned, or people who are unhappy over there will soon be able to do a pretty generic search and find us. This is good news for the outcasts.

The biggest effect of all the conversations at city-data about the banned members, is that admin and markablue have admitted there is this "pathetic" forum. Anyone who is a heavy poster over there knows there is another site.
Prior to finding talkstates my fear was that I would be banned and would have no place to go. Once I found talkstates ie: home, the fear was gone.

I am energized! Going back to work.

Re: It's working!

When I was trying to find a new forum to escape city-data, I kept trying "moving forums" and "state forums" and such. Occasionally I'd try "city/state sucks", but that always just brought up c-d. Very generic searches.

With all this talk about a "pathetic forum", mayhaps... admin can make that the motto on the homepage... "www.talkstates.com- The pathetic forum you've heard about (constantly) on city-data". Then when someone does a search for "pathetic forum" we'll show up :) .

Hmm... on a side note, is anyone disabling pms and enabling their e-mail instead, so that c-d can't read their correspondence? I was thinking of doing that, but I don't want my e-mail public.

Thank you for mentioning this IZZY - I'm not so informed on how spiders and search-engines work but I often use "Dogpile" and recommend it to other searchers as I often try and help people searching for long-lost kin and will recommend DogPile as it just seems to bring up stuff other engines don't.
Should note though, that most folks go "huh?" when I mention it (dogpile) - it's not natural to stumble into it.

Yes, I really like using dogpile. I know the name throws people...but it really is an easy way to search all the search engines at once.

My night is MADE!

If you now google: Markablue Moderator

The number 6 hit is our site. hehehehe.

On yahoo we come in at #21.

City-data can filter PM's all they want, but now if they want to stop a posting that says "to find the new site, google search markablue moderator" they will either need to flag all references to google, yahoo or hehe markablue moderator.

This is too special.

Ok, my goal is the post this tag in all 50 states. I want markablue moderator to have us be the first result!

That moment has arrived, my untimate "get even" with markablue.

Anyone who googles "markablue moderator" will see talkstates as the NUMBER 1 hit! So sweat!

Now on google if you just enter "markablue" you will get us at hit #7, page 2. Next is to get just markablue to show up on page one, then eventually see if I can get "city-data" show up... but that's a looooong shot.

In the big scheme of things, it really does not matter a whole lot, but it's fun trying to do it!

I'm giggling.
