| Bush Admin suppresses and edits Science
It's now all over the mainstream media that the scientific community has been increasingly upset by the policies of the Bush Administration regarding the censorship and editing of scientific peer-reviewed research. I originally read about this a long time ago in Discover Magazine, where there was an interesting feature that documented many cases in which the Admin intentionally suppressed some information, edited other information, misrepresented scientific research findings, and censured government employees who were participating in controversial research. Number One on the hit list is Global Warming. Now, even Bush himself is finally having to cave in and discuss it. Amazingly, The Fox Nuisance Network continues to cite discredited oil-industry-paid scientists, lobbyists, and politicians from oil-producing states as their reliable sources. John Gibson did a piece just last week in which he blathered on about how Global Warming was a hoax designed to get research funding and make money for the networks that talk about it. His guest "expert": A Republican Senator (Imhoff) from Oklahoma. Together, these two ignoramuses rolled their eyes about how much Global Warming is helping the Weather Channel get higher ratings. Now, for any of you who have the slightest bit of doubt as to the credibility of this accusation, I pose the following test of your logic skills: Which of the following has more money and power to influence what scientists study and what gets shown to us on TV? A. The Liberal Media, or B. The Oil and Coal industries (Hint: Exxon alone raked in more profit last year than any corporation in the history of the world.) |

The depth and reach of our government's "Long-Arm" goes unknown by most citizens. This is a charming expose' of such operation. Strictly an opinion tho, Mr. Trance, that tactics such as this are not totally unique to just the Bush administration. (but thanks for blowing the whistle on that pesky nerd!) |

True as the day is long, Wyody, political scoundrels of all stripes will abuse and filter public information to further their own agenda. Heck, I even do it with my dog, I lie to her about the treats --- "Oh, sorry Bean, looks like we're all out of those, I'll get some at the store tomorrow." Little does she know I've got her supplies stockpiled. God forbid I tell her the truth, the begging would never cease! |
