I started out at the Arlington Cemetary and the Tombe of the Unknown. This was before Clinton Emptied out one of the caskets. Then I started walking. When the sun went down, I went back to the hotel. Next morning I was out there again at 6am and walked until dark. It is so fascinating it is just unbelievable. I will say that I spent a little extra time with the Viet Nam memorial. Actually I spent more time getting to it. When I got to where I could see it just over the nole, I had to stop and set down on a bench and think for a bit. Then I'd get up and start toward it again and have to stop. Some people probably won't understand that but I'll tell you. When you get close to that wall a lot of memories come back.

I was wondering... I heard that you are supposed to contact your senator or congressman to get free tickets to the White House. Is this still true?

Of all my 20ish years that I lived in Northern VA and DC - I don't think I have ever taken the White House tour. I did though, do the Easter Egg Roll they have every year, for several years. That is outside in the gardens though.

It has been a ton of years since I was there but I remember walking into some of the bedrooms, bathroom and offices... you get to see where this or that famous person slept. Not a real exciting tour unless like me you like history. I would go again if I had the chance.
