Florida fires

Well, we were down for our Son's wedding last weekend in Boca Raton and boy the smoke was terrible. I hope it has cleared up this week. The smoke was so bad that you could smell it in the hotel rooms. Hope all you Floridians are safe from those brushfires.

Re: Florida fires

Hi Sekret! We've been very fortunate here. No smoke at all from even the smaller fire near Pensacola. Can't be good for anyone or any animals to breathe in all that smoke. We really need some rain. Without a hurricane.

Re: Florida fires

two weeks ago, we were driving from Jax to Tallahassee and there was almost zero visibility because of the smoke covering the roads somewhere in Lake City. It took a long time to clear up. The exit to Lake city was even blocked for entry. How terrible is that?

prior to that, the Georgia fires has given Jax some gray atmosphere.

Sarasota was a bit smoky for a couple of days...real hazy, the tropical strom helped out tremendously, even got rid of some of the love bugs !

Re: Florida fires

We had so many love-bugs in Baton Rouge, but haven't seen more than a handful in Navarre. We desperately need rain, though.

Thanks, Sekret. Unfortunately, here in Navarre, we've received less than 1/2 inch over the past few days. I believe we need about 9 to 12 inches of rain before we are no longer in drought mode. July is supposedly our rainiest month, so hopefully we'll get caught up, then...minus hurricanes.

Re: Florida fires

Any rain yet Kim? We have been pretty dry here also. It finally rained a little last week. On the 4th of July though :( It's so hot here today. Going to be in the high 90's maybe evn 100!
I am down in the family room in the basement and it's nice and cool here.

Not much, Sekret. Seems to always bypass us or dissipate before our area. Had about one day...think it was July 3rd...where it just kind of drizzled all day. We could definitely use some of the rain that Oklahoma and Kansas have had. I've been talking to friends in San Antonio and they've bypassed the record for the most rain in any one year...and it's only July! Very unusual.

This area is much better than where we were before...the high is usually right around 90 and there's always a nice breeze to make the 80% humidity much easier to tolerate.
