I ended up in the "Southside" area which is actually east of downtown. I was told that it is one of the nicer Jacksonville areas. It is mostly new development around my place. I can be on the beach in 15 minutes.

Hurricane season is right around the corner, so I guess we'll both be paying particularly close attention to the weather in the next few months. Are the fires dying down over in that area? Looks like an awful traffic jam on IH-10. Stay safe.

we are just about 15 minutes away from the beach and it's just so lovely. only that the water seems to be cold. or could it just be me? hehehe!!! the atmosphere in jax has been clear from smoke recently. but rain clouds seem to dominate lately. we still manage some sunny days though. i am not sure if the fires has been diminished already but we drive through I-10 and the highway was still covered with smoke from lake city to west. it was better than last friday though.

I'm glad it's not too overwhelming with the smoke from all the fires. Northern Florida could really use a thorough drenching of rain. It's great to hear that you're enjoying the Jacksonville area...it's awesome to be so close to the beach.

Crime here seem a slightly lower than it was in Charlotte, but that isn't really saying much. It is still ridiculously high in both metro areas. | |
