I will be moving to Sarasota, Fl in 2008. I'm trying to plan ahead-what...

...is the average cost of utilites, etc? I'm looking for electricity, water, cable, phone, etc. So many people say that the cost of living is cheaper down there compared to New England so I am trying to get something to compare.

Sarasota Fl is about 10% more expensive than the national average as far as Cost of Living goes. That said, I don't know where in New England you live, so it's hard to make a comparison. It is, however, known as a moderately priced place to live.

The price for electric was more for us down in Punta Gorda than it is here in PA. The a/c was on almost year round in our home in PG.
It has been getting hotter each season in Florida, which is the reason we have had to leave the a/c on more.
Cable was about the same as in the Northeast.
Water depends on how much you use also. We now have well water up here and we don't have to pay for that.

ah NO...Sarasota is not that CHEAP in anything...I live here as well....it's not an area to live if you're
struggling...taxes...insurance...food.....

But no one is entitled to live in paradise !
