You`d be close to some beautiful beaches on the Gulf for sure. Anna Maria Island is one of the most gorgeous beaches there is. Also Longboat Key beach is great. Go south of there to Sarasota and theres also excellent beaches. Mainly there `Siesta Key` beach is awesome. However, this is the Gulf. Not as much surfing on this side, altho on some beaches there is some surfing. But the water here on this side is calmer than the east coast of Florida, where there is a lot more surfing. But the west coast (Gulf) is nicer, IMHO.
