Stay under an umbrella when in the sun, get it as dark as you can. Stay inside more often. Lol, you can;t get lighter unless you avoid the sun.

Hmmm...

You seem to have the opposite problem that I have. I used to try so hard to become tan-er dark red, but it was painful and only lasts until my skin peels a couple layers. Sad but true. And dangerous for me.

I have freckles and ancestry that goes back to the North slightly west of central part of Ireland.

I'd agree with shadyblue; stay out of the sun and/or wear a hat and stay in the shade.

The sun appears to be quite a bit stronger down south than it is up north, especially considering how severely sunburned I got pretty much every time so far that I went to the florida keys even though it was not even 90 degrees outside! And my sunburns there were far more widespread than normal too. Some of the places I got burned; my lower arms, my forehead, my scalp, my lower legs, and it was rather painful (especially since I apparently was not wearing any sunscreen on those areas.) But even that can not stop me from moving there soon.
