| "Bashful" Experiences on City-data Florida Forum
Out of all the forums on city-data, it seems that the Florida forum is the only place that allows, and only allows complaining. Now, from my experiences and research, there are some parts of Florida that can get rough and maybe even a bit pricey, but there is still plenty of room for middle class people, even in places like Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach, and parts of the keys. Well, when I used to surf the Florida forum, I certainly used to see a lot of bashing, trolling, and hate speech. Even my own posts on the Florida forum got hijacked and bashed to bits. Like for instance, I would say "I may end up in Fort Lauderdale", and the next day I would get bashed to bits by trolls saying stuff like "Fort Lauderdale is a war zone! Don't do it!" But I have allready been to Fort Lauderdale myself and did not have any problems, even when I went for about an 8 mile hike through town, especially in the vicinity of the Evergreen Cemetery. I also noticed posts labelling Floridians as "rude, selfish, cold hearted, etc," but from my experiences, Floridians seem extremely friendly. Although there are people in Florida that can get theatrical and maybe even a little wild at times. But from my experiences, one thing Florida is not is a social desert. And these are the places I have been to in Florida; Tampa, Miami, Crystal River, Homosassa Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Doral, Key Largo, Marathon, Key West, Long key, and Bahia Honda.

Those people on CD have some 'head' or 'ego problems' for sure..... They use banning as a weapon to control thought...free thought... Morons indeed I came on the TN forum a few times just to provide an opinion about schools food, restaurants, cheap-ass BBQ, racial politics, and the lack of education, etc and the moderator named 'pearlbob' takes it personally..........that's one stupid woman. There is no exchange (accurate) of individual relo experiences........I think a few work for the Chambers of Commerce.........this SAME MODERATOR is also on TripAdvisor at the same time !.......looks like every friggen DAY.....so you know it's a scam of sort... or 'stuffing the ballot box' telling the rosey all the time and never the reality of moving there.....place like Memphis.....which has a BUNCH of problems and people that are considering moving there NEED to KNOW about the pitfalls as well as the 'good stuff'... but they need to know MORE about the things that may be unpleasant. I live in Florida....great place, but it's NOT for everyone.....now all of the losers wannabes, 'n'er-do'wells', and assorted 1980's relos, are complaining and moving to places like EAST TN, northern GA, SC etc.....frankly I'm glad they're moving, and I don't have to listen to their whining about prices, taxes, the heat, the international flavor of S FL, and so -on...........everyone can't, nor should live in Paradise, just like everyone can't live on Fifth Avenue, or in Maui. |

| Re: "Bashful" Experiences on City-data Florida Forum I have not been to Florida for many years - but even in the late 60's, tourism was rampant and the locals didn't really care to trust anybody from out of town. Many trips down (from Ohio) taught me to hang with the locals and not to mess them over ... sort of the same rules as in Tijuana. The bulk of my experience includes Atlantic coast from Lauderdale down to the mid-keys - with plenty of travelling to other parts of the state including Coco, Clearwater, Daytona and Augustine ... but then, it was mostly middle class folks - normals and mostly transplants. The party was on. The bar was open. The beach was free. I suppose a lot of that has changed. I lived down south for a few years - south of Miami by Largo. It was fine. No problems. I'll just betcha somebody went down there from up narth and spoiled things!
