Re: How cold is it where you are?

I live in Sheridan Wyoming and we're in the middle of a blizzard. It's currently 8 degree's and with wind chill it's -15.

Today, I'd rather be in Florida. Next month, I will be in Florida.

We moved here in November and had extremely mild temps throughout December (around 65, give or take). I repainted the deck and was in my bathing suit for about two days, very comfortable. Tonight was the first time this winter that our heat actually kicked in and we had it set at 62 degrees. I've become a pansy, though... Tonight the low is supposed to be 27 degrees...but wow...I'm sooooo glad I'm not in Minnesota right now!!!!

Re: How cold is it where you are?

After 4 days of cold and blizzard, today got up to 50. Right now, it's after 10pm, and it's still 40. Most of the snow is gone.

However, the weather guesser says Thursdays high will be 20.

I say weather guesser, it's in fondness. With the mountains around here, and the accuracy of radar and distance, he does a really good job, but sometimes the air currents throw him for a loop. We are 206 miles away from the weather radar. haha

hehehehe

In washington we deal with the jet stream, two mountain ranges, one to the east, one to the west. We have cold fronts hit from Alaska, then we have wet weather hitting from the pacific. The poor weatherman might as well say "tomorrow we will have... weather".

That's funny.

But since this is not either of our states, here is a question that is relative to Florida as well as many other states.

Why oh why, when a huge storm, hurricane, rain, wind whatever, do we turn on the TV to see our weather people and the reporters, standing out in the weather, wind blowing the crap out of them, and they stand there and say "it's not safe out here, you should get indoors to a place that is safe". Huh? That makes so much sense to me. not!

Friday I went to work in the morning. After unplugging my block heater on the truck. I passes the bank with the temp time thing, these don't take wind chill into effect and it sat at -33 Degrees. And we are exspecting to reach -50 with wind chill this week in my area. But hey MT Washington had -120 earlier this year with wind chill. Ya I want that job up there. Google the observatory for MT washington. that job would suck in winter.

Yes, we are sooooo happy here! Actually, it's funny that you should ask that...yesterday, we were driving to the grocery store and I looked out my window and at a first glance, thought there were some patches of snow. I did a double-take and realized that what I saw were areas of white sand...what a relief!

Spring break is coming. You can expect the first couple of station-wagon loads in about a month!

(I'll put in a call to the kinfolk, tell 'em to maybe gas up early).
