For those about to ask what is IRC..

Re: Talk States Irc

I have had a client sitting idle on and off in #talkstates on a couple different irc networks since I started the site. Right now I have it on EFnet, Quakenet, and Undernet. I have not decided which I want to use, I have always been an EFnet user in the past, but Quakenet is biggest now and provides some nice channel services, X service on Undernet is also not bad. I might add a web based irc client to the website in the future.

That would be best.. IRC can be a tad tricky to use, and we will have people of all skill levels on here, so a Web based one would be best for all concerned with useing it. Thanks Admin.

A sailing forum that I belong to has scheduled chats. You can log on whenever you want to, but they have a schedule when people will actually be on. Occasionaly they will have impromtu chats where people just want to talk.

Here is a link to their site to show how they do theirs:

That is about the same as I would set up. They have an IRC channel with a couple web based options to access it, and links to standalone IRC clients for "advanced users".

Re: Talk States Irc

It has been about a year since this was suggested, but I finally got around to setting it up.

People can either click the chat link on the navbar or download a standalone irc client and connect to irc.quakenet.org #talkstates
