Hey Curious, that's looking like a Bell 47 from here. Eh?

Sure is, some day I’d like to have one that or maybe a Cessna 180 or a twin engine

Well Pan I tell ya, if your one of those Mike Metzger types have at it .because you couldn’t pay me enough to ride in one of those egg beaters . just because they fly doesn’t make them safe , an I plain on being around for a wile. I would much rather pay more for something that is well engineered tested an certified an has some kind of history or track record behind it . remember once you leave the ground it’s kinda hard to pull over an park when you have a problem . if you don’t have enough money to own you can always rent , lots of airports rent plains.

They also remind me of powered hang glider nothing more than a flying bed sheet.

Re: Why does it?

Often thought about a little bird - not a fixed-wing though. Always said "Never Mind" as it came down to two probabilities:
1)What goes up .....
2)Don't think I'm insured while piloting a cereal-box with rotors.

but mostly: 1) What goes up .......

Re: Why does it?

I went up in a little glider plane once.. it was scary as hell.. but fun. You know one of those planes that looks like a hang glider with a seat or two and a small prop engine.. I forget what they are called.

But I trust my abilities to put a kit together.. and hey if there are any left over parts.. I just did it better than the engineered it right haha!

The bed sheet with a motor is a ultra light , if you fart it’s enough to blow you off course .
Putting this junk together is not the problem . #1 there not engineered as well as the real thing. #2 when you learn to fly it the first time it is trial an error seat of the pants no instructor un regulated , all the books in the world don’t teach like the real thing .Being that you would have no flight time how would you know if it was working right
Before it’s possibly to late. #3 they are so light in comparison to the wind gusts even on a calm sunny summer day you have thermals that can bounce you around #4 being that they are so light there is no structure around you to absorb any of the crash , kind of like
Running a scooter into a brick wall at 40 mph compared to a camaro . if you did build one stay low an slow an keep all your insurances paid up .

Ps. go jump off a two story building an see if you still feel the same way , cuss if you crash in one of them it’ll be worse . just my opinion though
