I have been testing some new themes. The designer of the old one is no longer updating it for new versions of the forum software.

Re: New Look Onsite

Hmm, not sure if I like this one. Something different would be nice, though. But not this one!!!! Too sterile.

Talking Did we move up town or what?

Okay, go away for a few hours and someone replaced all the furniture in the lounge. Where is my favorite chase lounge...you know the one with cup holder on the side

Okay...I guess I will get use to the new Blue leather Chair and ottoman. This may take a few days to get use too. Where is live feed please? Anything else I should know? Where are you keeping the coffee cups...whoops...I mean herbal tea cups.

Dang the place looks good. Thanks Admin.

Re: New Look Onsite

Okay, didn't know we were discussing this here. I posted in the lounge my first impressions

First, it took a long time to post my last post. In fact it looked stuck until I hit submit again, then it said I had already posted it.

Being the artsy fartsy one...the header is a little to plain. Nice colors but it needs something more... a landscape in the blue tones.

Also if the posts boxes could have a break of color every other one. Just a light screen of blue maybe 10%...just enough to give the eye a break from all the white.

Now I will go hide while someone calls me ungreatful

I do like it Admin just need to make it home with a few pictures, lamps, and a comfy chase lounge.

Izzy

Okay...love the feature of rating a topic. Makes it easier for new comers to find the best stuff to read. Did we have that before?

Re: New Look Onsite

Help me... I'm blind!!!!! Need sunglasses to read.... seriously, I am not one for brightness :(

I think you should go back to displaying every post we make on the home page like it used to be months ago. When you changed that feature the front page makes it look like nothing ever happens here.

Re: New Look Onsite

Okay we agree on...to much white. Still I like the setup. Front page needs to look a little more like a front page instead of a thread. But then I never go to the front page. New comers might like a "Welcome this is what we are about...mission statement somewhere"...do we have one?

With a side bar of some of the best pics posted here and the state name under them. A best rated topics section so they see us at our best straight off and a go directly to new post button.

Did Admin ask for feedback or are we putting the cart before the horse?

Well I definitely don’t need the lights on in the computer room anymore .
What happened to live feed, an can you make the type a little bigger , seems my eyes all of a sudden got worse.

Re: New Look Onsite

I found live feed it is called new post at the top in the bar. I couldn't find it at first either.

Don't forget to ID the mods in someway. I see on the front page we are calling them that now

New comers won't know the old timers are blue...are our community reps still green?

You get use to where everything is and you stop noticing details

Re: New Look Onsite

Okay, I just went to see what color the moderators are on the front page and that section is now gone...Admin are you working on things as we speak? Did you add "New Post" as we speak...did you remove moderator section on front page? Am I loosing it?

Yeah the type needs to be a little bigger for those of us who wear glasses

I do like the orange bar under the avatar showing who is on line...and the number of post. Shows who is an old timer and who is new. Didn't see that right off.

Admin, maybe you should do a different theme every day and we can offer opinions on what works and what doesn't.

I haven't yet decided to keep this theme, I just left it on overnight while I was sleeping. I do appreciate the feedback though.

I will consider changing that back.

New Posts and the Live Feed are different, I just didn't add the custom Live Feed button yet. New Posts was always there before and is similar, but needs to be refreshed manually. For now you can access the "Live Feed" here http://www.talkstates.com/forum/vaispy.php .

Customizations like that will be added once I decide on a theme to keep.

Stock vBulletin still looks like city-data with a different logo on top, but there has always been many custom skins available. It is by far my favorite forum software to work with.

Test Theme 2

Better or worse than the last one? Still too bright? Other comments?

Re: Test Theme 2

Much better as far as brightness , I can take my sunglasses off , still need the type bigger , one of the reasons I couldn’t be a fighter pilot , had to do the racing thing instead , no eye tests.

Much better than the last one. Sunglasses off. The font used for the buttons "New Reply" and "Quote", etc looks a little odd. It is lacking something... maybe photos or graphics on the header?

Re: Test Theme 2

Another thought. Once you decide on a new theme, can you send out a mass email to everyone that is a member here to come and check out the new layout? It would be nice to get more people posting and something like that may be the perfect thing.

I like it, but after using it for awhile I think it would fit better on a different site. So it is on to the next one.....

This is the best so far. Still do not like the font used for the buttons. But the colors seem to be nice. Still need graphics or photos for the top. Any graphic desingers in the house (Izzy?, hint, hint...)

Re: Test Theme 3

Check out this intro page at another forum:

http://cb450dohc.com/

Maybe you could do something like that. Nice a nd clean with a mission statement. And if you notice in their forums area, that there are not a lot of different forums to spread stuff out too thin. I feel that this site is spread out too thin with all 50 states having their own area plus other areas. Maybe a general area about relocation with all of the threads from the states forums in there and then the rest of the forums that you currently have. When this site gets bigger, expand it out. I also like how the CB450 forum has little lightbulbs that turn on when a forum has a new post.

Ya know pdx looking at that bike you wouldn’t think anybody in there right mind would want to take that thing up to 100 , never the less without a helmet an on a little country tar road south of Fergus, T S might know the area , there wear no bugs that day , good thing. Young an dumb , now I’m just older an half as dumb , I could see doing it again , only with a crotch rocket on the highway though. How you coming on your bike?

Re: Test Theme 3

In the process of replacing the handlebars and it has turned into a can of worms. I thought I would put some sweet looking drag bars on it, but then I had to replace the controls, and alter the cables, etc, etc, etc. Got wires everywhere and need to get it assembled and maybe someday soon, I can finish getting tuning the carbs and setting the timing correctly. Who would have thought handlebars could be so involved.
