A Suggestion

I can say from experience that the one thing that will kill a board is over-moderation. I don't know that you guys do that, and I do realize that it's a board made from people being banned from another board, but it's always good to have a fresh start with as little moderation as possible.

Good point.

And that's why I posted that we need to police ourselves. Just be nice people. There is no point in ragging on your neighbor right? We need to create a sense of community so we all stick together... And I think that's really the point of this forum isn't it?

Yes, but some ppl do not know how to debate without getting freaked out and start calling names.

You will find that over time that will take care of itself. The group will moderate itself. It's a nightmare moderating squabbles and when you state up front that you won't, they tend to go away.

I agree... I have had my board for quite some time and have Zero moderators. I have had some members leave and new ones come in. Some come back and some don't...but I always figured we are all adults in there and all have our own opinions. We can live with that or not. But the choice is ours to make.

You know, over at C-D I did a lot of political stuff. I used to nail some of the odd balls and would every once in a while stop someone dead in their tracks. What started happening is that these odd balls would just talk around me and refused to play. That was ok, because the real purpose was to have other readers get my perspective.

If we get these kinds of jerks, but best way to get rid of them is, well, ignore them. A little laughter prior to the ignore never hurt either.
