More curiousity questions...

What is the plan to get this site advertised? Is it showing up in the major search engines? (Didn't see it in my brief search) Any plans to divert income into paid advertising?

I noticed that there are 89 members of this forum--and probably all are from c-d. What is the membership over there? I'm not sure how to find out--if it's even possible.

I am currently running small ad campaigns with both google and adbrite. I had google ads on city-data for atleast a couple weeks before they noticed and blocked me.

I will be doing more advertising in the future also.

We currently have 168 pages indexed in google, up from around 95 a few days ago. We have 147 pages currently in the Yahoo index. Both search engines have spiders on the site almost constantly.

C-D stats says that the currently have 45,456 accounts, but I don't know if I trust that because I know there is a fake stats plugin for vBulletin and they hide the memberlist, hide the who's online list, and even hide the number of members online. Even if the stats are real, a very large percentage have to be inactive.

Chuckle! I remember noticing that, quite amusing!

They can't take a joke, can they? That makes it doubly funny!

About 85% of city-data's members are inactive it seems. You always see the same 20-30 people posting as far as i can tell.

That is probably about right.

Over at C-D they have 45000 members and 250000 posts. That is equal to about 6 posts per member. So you gotta know that the vast majority of member over there no longer even use the site, only post as long as they need to, and just a relative few do the majority of posts.

I kept track of a days worth of activity over there.

yesterday they only had 1800 posts but added 320 new members. Consider that we have been averaging about 200 post per day with only 85 members, show a stark contrast: we 1/10 of 1% the number of members then C-D. Compared to the 1800 posts, We produced 11% or around 200 posts.

For a site that is driven by the need to find a new home or state, ultimately most new members are not long term members.
